Should you pay an estate sale company to clear out your home?

I have had several clients use the services of estate sale companies and they have been very happy with the ease with which they were able to deal with a difficult and time-consuming task.  As noted in the Scripps report below, families can find it "emotional and intimidating trying to unload years' worth of possessions and memories." Companies that specialize in estate sales and downsizing can reduce the angst of taking on this project and often do much more than just selling household furnishings.  In addition to sorting and taking care of items for sale (including items for auction), they can also make arrangements for donations and disposal of trash, as well as final clean up.  Prices vary by company and by which services are provided.  Please contact me if you would like to have a list of companies that provide this service in this area.

Note that in SCCL, you will need to notify HOA management of your plans to hold an estate sale.  There is a form that you will need to submit at least one week in advance.  There is also a required form that needs to be submitted when you are planning to sell your home.  Both of these forms can be found at the SCCL website.  I'd be happy to assist, if you need help getting them.
